VANGELIS Soil Festivities

The year is 1984, and Polydor was probably going nuts regarding Vangelis. They surely wanted another chart success like Chariots of Fire, and three years after that album, Vangelis gave them a masterpiece that had no marketable singles. It would have been difficult to release a single from this album. It really needs to be heard in its entirety to be appreciated. That was a problem for our Japanese friends for a few years! On the Japanese LP, Movement 5 ends a few minutes early. If you listen to the CD, you will notice that there is a break in the middle of that movement. Actually, that break was originally to be the end of Movement 5, and then Movement 6 would play to finish out the album. Movement 6 ended up being "deleted" by combining it with Movement 5. Polydor Japan must not have gotten the memo. They later corrected this on the CD.
