La Fete Sauvage French LP 1st Pressing front coverVangelis managed to record an album between Heaven and Hell and Albedo 0.39, his second release for a Frederic Rossif documentary. Of course, the album does not have all the complete tracks from the film, and the film does not have the nice Vana Veroutis vocal either. For some odd reason, this release does not get released on RCA (with one exception) but initially is released on the French Pathe-Marconi label. Eventually, there are all sorts of different releases with different cover variations. Collectors love cover variations! There is even a single release from this album! Vangelis was busy in this time. Recorded in December 1975, 3 months after Heaven and Hell and very different than Heaven and Hell, although he does use vocalist Vana Veroutis on both. There are some PolyGram releases of the album on CD, as well as releases from soundtrack specialists CAM out of Italy. However, the CAM CD releases of La Fête Sauavge are all screwed up. As of the date of this writing (July 6, 2002), CAM has just released a corrected CD. On the previous CAM CDs, there are two tracks, "Part 1" and "Part 2", where the track called "Part 1" is not from La Fête Sauvage at all. It is actually Part 2 from Entends-tu les Chiens Aboyer?. Confused yet? Of course, CAM screwed up the Entends-tu les Chiens Aboyer? CD as well, and that title has not yet been corrected. [Thanks to Roland Weißflog for the scans of the French small center hole 7" and the Italian LP. Thanks to Peter Althammer for the scans of both WG LP inner labels and the Japanese standard LP inner label! Thanks to Sweder Jansen for the scan of the Italian white label promo LP!]
