Entends-tul les Chiens Aboyer Canadian LP front coverThis soundtrack to the 1975 film of the same name by Francois Reichenbach would mark an end to Vangelis' stay in Paris. The album has been released with three different titles: Entends-tu les Chiens Aboyer?, Can You Hear the Dogs Barking?, and (most commonly) Ignacio. I find it strangely amusing that I have yet to find an album that uses the correct title of the film that this music is from. Perhaps there is a Mexican pressing of "No Oyes Ladrar los Perros?" out there somewhere. There are several cover variations of this album. Did you know that there are two different versions of this album? Halfway through the album, there is a very fast paced track (coincides with a nightmare scene from the movie). There are two different mixes of this song available on the various releases. It is a little complicated to explain how you can hear them both, because CAM screwed up the CD release of this album. I will focus my explanation to CDs. If you own the Barclay CD, the first mix is on there. To hear the second mix, you need to buy the old CAM CD of "La Fête Sauvage". Why? Well, because CAM screwed up and put the second half of Entends-tu les Chiens Aboyer? on La Fête Sauvage instead. Confused? Me too. Anyways, the differences in the tracks: the old CAM CD version has a fade in to start the track, more focus on percussion and additional keyboards. The Barclay version has no fade in, less percussion and fewer keyboards. Seek them out and compare! As for the CAM situation, if you buy the Entend-tu les Chiens Aboyer? CAM CD, you are getting Part 1 of "Entends-tu les Chiens Aboyer" and Part 1 of "La Fête Sauavge. What a mess.
