VANGELIS Direct

After Invisible Connections in 1985, the world did not get another solo album until 1988, when he reappeared on the BMG-owned Arista label (BMG also owns RCA). Arista must not have wanted to keep Vangelis for very long. Direct was billed as the first of a series of albums, and collectors prepared for a wonderful series of albums from Arista. Alas, he only did "Page of Life" (with Jon Anderson) in addition to this album for Arista, and the Direct Series never materialized under that name. I guess we could say that the Direct Series is really his recordings under east west. Anyways, I was personally stunned by this album, because it was nothing that I was prepared for. The move from analogue to digital took a little getting used to! This album is so unique in his catalog, there is no other album that compares to it. At least Arista released a single for the album. In trying to complete an accurate discography, I need your help. Some source state there is a 12" single of "Will of the Wind". I have never seen one, and none of the big Vangelis collectors I know have it. Do you? If so, write to me! [Thanks to Roland Weißflog for the scan of the Portugal LP]
