This section will not look at the music of Jon and Vangelis. Instead, the music to be covered here are only the songs from Jon Anderson's solo works written with Vangelis, either new compositions or cover versions, as well as a consideration of Anderson's first solo album, Olias of Sunhillow. Both Jon Anderson and Vangelis have told the press that Vangelis did not play on this album. Whenever I listen to a track like "Solid Space", I think of Vangelis. Whenever I listen to Anderson's keyboard work on his other solo albums (especially Song of Seven), and how it does not measure up to the keyboard work of Olias, I think of Vangelis. Anderson credits Vangelis for his "energy" in the Olias liner notes. Hmm. Less fuzzy is the fact that Vangelis wrote the track "Easier Said Than Done" on Anderson's 3 Ships album (1985). The out-of-print CDs from Japan cost a small fortune, with the pirated copies even selling for high prices on ebay. In 1994, Anderson released his Change We Must album, with four Anderson/Vangelis compositions, including one previously unreleased, "The Kiss".
