I bet that 99 articles out of 100 that talk about the Aphrodite's Child album 666 will point out specifically the one track in which Irene Papas provides vocals: "¥". It was as if Demis Roussos never sang a note on the album! This one track provided so much controversy, and resulted in the delay of 666 for nearly two years. There is more to her singing ability than sounding as if she were having an orgasm. In 1978, she completed her follow-up with Vangelis, Odes, singing entirely in Greek. The album received worldwide release, exposing many to traditional Greek songs done in a modern way. They followed up this release in 1986 with Rhapsodies, another Greek vocal album, Vangelis' last full recording for Polydor. This album has been generally confined to release in Greece, with the only other releases being a US CD pressing manufactured through the efforts of Greek Video, Records and Tapes out of New York City, and the standard Polydor CD release from West Germany.
