After Claudio Baglioni had enormous success working with Vangelis in 1974, other Italian artists took note. Riccardo Cocciante had already worked with Loukas Sideras and Nico Papathanassiou previously, so in 1976, it seemed like a good time for him to record with Vangelis! Concerto Per Margherita was the result, and this album sounds as good, if not better, than the work with Baglioni. I personally am a big fan of the song "Quando Si Vuole Bene", which I think is the most moving Italian ballad of all time. They only worked together for this album. There is a Spanish-language version of the album (under the name Richard Cocciante). Cocciante also recorded a French and English version of the "Margherita" single, which were actually re-recordings without Vangelis. Vangelis' arrangements and playing are very recognizable on this album. Guy Protheroe and the English Chamber Choir are also used on some tracks, as is the case of the Patty Pravo project.
