This Italian superstar can look back to his past and know one thing...the album that Vangelis did with him, "E Tu..." helped launched him to super-stardom. While he already had a few releases under his belt by the time "E Tu..." was released, this was the million seller that made him a household name in Italy. The album sounds good even today, although the album was recorded way back in 1974. Baglioni has a terrific singing voice, and the combination of the two can only be described as pure genius. But I wonder who made it happen? I suspect his brother, Nico Papathanassiou, had something to do with it, as it seems Nico was never too far behind when Vangelis was working with all these Italian artists in the 70s. There is an official Baglioni web site and I highly suggest taking a look, even if it is only to look at the image of Claudio and Vangelis together: www.baglioni.it. Collectors, keep your eyes open for the original Italian LP that includes the Baglioni poster, with the record housed in a gatefold sleeve. I should also discuss the fact that there are two different mixes of the album available. The common mix exists on all available pressings with two notible exceptions. The first exception is the Spanish LP pressing, the second exception in the recent gold remastered CD from Italy. Both use a different mix of the album, with tracks that highlight different Vangelis instrumentation, so it is definitely worth it to track down at least the Italian remastered CD.
